 19 Scholarships to Local Students

 

 

To have been eligible for the $1000.00 HBRA-WM Member Scholarship Program, the applicant had to be affiliated with a member or the employee of a member company. The association also awarded area trade and vocational high school students’ $500.00 cash scholarships or tool acquisition awards to further their careers in the building industry. The association issued a request to each of the fourteen schools in their service area of Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin and Berkshire counties to recommend an exemplary student to receive one of these awards. The association offered vocational school students the option to receive a $1000 scholarship to the college of their choice. Any vocational student in the fourteen area trade schools could apply and compete for this scholarship.Since the inception of these programs, the association has awarded $303,500.00 to deserving students.

 

The 19 individuals selected as the 2010 HBRA-WM scholarship recipients include: Cameron Aubin, son of Donna & Stephen Aubin of Warwick, RI, who will attend Duke University; Gregory Boilard, son of Lise & Michael Boilard of Wilbraham, who will attend Syracuse University; Jason Burgos-Ledford, son of  Pauline Burgos of Pittsfield, who attended Taconic High School; Steven Costa, son of Despina & David Costa of Agawam, who attends Bentley University; Bryan Davis, son of Mary Ann Davis of Cheshire, who attended McCann Vocational Technical High School; Jack Davis, son of Heidi & Peter Davis of Westfield, who attended Westfield Vocational/Technical High School; Andre Duval son of Ann Marie & Andre Duval of West Springfield, who attended Lower Pioneer Valley Career & Technical Education Center; Matthew Earl, son of Laura & Mike Earl of Shelburne Falls, who attended Franklin County Technical School;  Stephanie Gomes, daughter of Ana & Joao Gomes of Chicopee, who attends Mount Holyoke College; Hayley Grassetti, daughter of Erin & Raymond Grassetti of Monson, who will attend Fashion Institute of Technology BFA; Trevor Hajko, son of Marie Hajko of Brimfield, who attended Tantasqua Regional High School; Adam Hurwitz, son of Cathy Hurwitz of Somers, CT, who attends the University of Connecticut; Tucker Mientka, son of Singwen Mientka of Leeds, who attended Smith Vocational & Agricultural High School; Alex Morneau, son of Sandra Nadeau of Chicopee, who attended Chicopee Comprehensive High School – Career & Technical Education Program; Liane Moses, daughter of Monique & Edward Moses of East Longmeadow, who will attend Springfield College; Lauren Mulak, daughter of Barbara & David Mulak of East Longmeadow, who attends Endicott College; Megan Roy, daughter of Lynn & Stephan Roy of Shrewsbury, who attends the University of Miami; Ashley Tromblay, daughter of Cynthia Pecoy of Wilbraham, who attends James Madison University; and Ryan Walch, son of Deborah & Fred Walch of Three Rivers, who attended Pathfinder Regional Vocational High School. 

 

The association applauds the achievements of these individuals and wishes them well in their future endeavors.
